I’ll start by saying our sales person was great. She made my daughter’s first car buying experience a pleasure. She earned a 5 star. However, the finance department was uninformative and pulled a shady deal. Our initial paperwork at the sales person’s desk showed a low interest rate and 60 month financing, not bad. Once we were moved to the finance guy, things changed to a higher rate and 72 month term. This was never disclosed as it should have been. Additionally, I didn’t question the monthly payment because it was right in line with calculations on the lower rate at 60 months. We had already spent 5 hours there and we were ready to get the xxxx out of there. This should have never passed my smell test but as I said the numbers added up so I didn’t question the rate and term. It wasn’t until paperwork was signed that I was told of the change and only after I asked to make sure it was in line with the original paperwork. My daughter loved the car so I wasn’t going to ruin her experience by going off on the guy. All I can say is it was a shady deal. I would not do business with any ALM dealership again. Car dealerships are bottom feeders and most deserve the shady reputation they earn. Only reason this is not a zero star is because of our excellent sales person.

This was the ABSOLUTE worse experience ever. I went to their dealership yesterday because over the phone they told me they would BEAT any written offer. I left work to go to their dealership. I showed them the written offer from an opposing dealership only to be told they couldn't match it. They said theirs would only 20-25 more per month if I went with them. This dealership in known for being shady. I would NEVER recommend this dealership to anyone. Drive to Atlanta if you want to buy a Hyundai. BEWARE OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT!!!! I have been visiting the Athens, GA Hyundai dealership ever since we have owned our 2022 Hyundai. In the past we have had great service. But, the store recently underwent an ownership change to ALM and the service department has been terrible ever since. I've been twice in the last couple of months and will not be back. The first time was an oil change. The person that came out to talk to me about my car knew nothing about it and had no answers about any questions I had. It was concerning. The price also went up and I was just told that "everywhere" is more expensive. The second time, and most recent visit, I called before taking my car in for a repair. They told me to drop it that evening (a Monday) and that they thought it could be ready the next day, but maybe the day after that. I knew what the problem was and clearly articulated it on the phone and with a note in the vehicle. I just needed a caliper replaced and for the rear brakes to be done. The next morning I never got a call from the service dept. Just a text message with the name of 3 services and a price. Then they added 4 other services with a price but gave no explanation as to why they were added on. No explanation. No call to talk about it. They also did not quote any fee for diagnostics. Just the price for repair. The car was not done Tuesday. It was not done Wednesday. On Thursday I called the service department 8 times and never got any response. I even called the "manager" twice. He said he would personally make sure someone picked up my call. But I was just sent to voicemail. The voicemail box was full and could not take any new messages. Finally I called the new car sales dept and said I needed them to walk me over by phone to talk to someone in the service dept. They said they were across the street and would just send someone over to tell them. FINALLY I got a response from Will on the service team. Again, a text message. Not a call. When I came in to pick up my car late Thursday I addressed my communication concerns with Will, the service lane manager. He said he didn't have time to call people and have them tell him stories about their sick dogs for 10 minutes so he just texted people instead. He even said he didn't have time to use their internal system. He only had time to send texts. He then provided me with a look at his long string of customer texts on his phone. I told him it provided a poor customer experience and that I was not happy. Additionally, they added a "miscellaneous fee" of $250 to my bill. When I asked what it was, he said it was a diagnosis fee, but it was not labeled like that on the invoice. I told him that I had clearly explained the services needed and what was wrong. I didn't need a diagnosis. It's not like I had an unknown engine issue. He said it was required. Again, poor service and overcharging the customer. He said there was nothing he could do. I paid it because I had to have my car back for an out of town trip the next morning. But I'm not happy. And I won't be back. Additionally, I won't recommend the store any longer for any other people as I had in the past. I'm sad that the old staff in the service dept is gone and that Will and his team are now in charge. The old staff was great. The new service staff is not. Do better, ALM Hyundai.

Devin Wynn, our salesman, was extremely knowledgeable and took great time with us to make sure we were happy with our decision. Everyone worked to make the whole transaction very easy. He was able to work out numbers and get us to a great purchase price prior to leaving the house. The deal was smooth and the car was in better shape than I expected. Over the years I have purchased several vehicles and I can say, without hesitation, my new Hyundai purchase at Hyundai of Athens has been the best car buying experience I have ever had. From the moment we stepped onto the dealer’s lot everyone we encountered was so friendly. My wife and I were expecting the usual sales pressures and antics but there were none. It was a very easy, smooth transaction from start to finish. The GM even introduced himself to my wife and I and offered to buy us lunch! Dealership was clean, organized and felt welcoming. Our salesman - Austin Moore, was quite impressive. He was patient with us, helped us pick out the exact SUV we were dreaming of getting, answered our many questions, was very professional - in both appearance and behavior and was refreshingly honest with us. For example, when he wasn’t sure about something or did not have an answer he said so and made an effort to get us the correct answer to our question or concern. The business manager - Gregory Michael, was equally a complete pleasure to deal with. My past experience has been dread when it comes to going into meet with the business manager. Much like when going to the dentist. Not the case here! Gregory made the “legal” part of the transaction, easy - in fact as smooth as silk! He was professional, accommodating, took his time to explain everything in detail and he made sure we were totally happy with our purchase. Everyone made us feel like family. I might add, there were three Hyundai dealerships closer to our home. We happened to be in Athens when we decided to stop in and just have “a look”. My wife and I are so glad we did. We HIGHLY recommend Hyundai of Athens and especially Austin Moore.
